Morocco, your African Nations Champions, look to hit the ground running against Iran. The fast paced and electric side of Morocco, look to sneak out of a group also containing Portugal and Spain. Morocco very well could take three points against Iran, and be ahead of Portugal and Spain if they draw later in the day.
Featuring young talent by the likes of Achraf Hakimi and Amine Harit, Morocco is balanced by the dynamics of explosive play maker Hakim Ziyech of AJAX and veteran Midfielder Nordin Amrabat. Anchor in defense is standout defender Medhi Benatia of Juventus, who will captain his side at this World Cup.
Iran head into this World Cup, only losing two matches in the last twelve, but both loses coming since March. National Team Manager, Carlos Queiroz, looks to settle his team early and establish themselves behind the ball, possibly catching Morocco out on the counter. Iran will need a goal early, in order to establish a confidence builder. Iran is by no means a pushover, they will protect their defensive area. The player I am hoping to see bring Iran to victory, is Sardar Azmoun. The young forward lead Iran with 11 goals in 14 games for the Asian Qualifiers. He is a very exciting player, at 23 years of age, who looks to write his name in Iran history books.
My prediction, 3-1 in favor of Morocco.
