Weekly Chronicle with Charles

This week, we have a lot of matches in the world of soccer and football. Some of which have big circumstances, while others have rivalries and pride to play for.

Tuesday, Tottenham surely want to be the team that pulls ahead for the Top 4 in the Premier League. They play against Brighton, who is also in their own battle as well, in the relegation battle. Two separate ends of the table, two different seasons, and two very different teams. Hueng-Min Son will probably be the best player in the pitch, next to Eriksen. Nothing we haven’t seen from Spurs over the last few weeks, especially with their  elimination of Manchester City in the Champions League round, just last week. However, losing in the weekend in the League to the same foe, is why the 3 points matter even more to Spurs. Tied with Chelsea in points at 67, match in hand, Spurs need merely a point against Brighton. Third place would be there’s going into tomorrow, until Arsenal and The Manchester Derby kickoff. If Brighton however pull off the draw, which in this Premier League season wouldn’t surprise us, they could well be 4 points clear of relegation zone. With only 3 more matchdays to go, that’s coukd be everything. It’s all to play for, for Brighton and Tottenham. Two ends of the table. One amazing match.

Girona and Real Valladolid matchup in a La Liga relegation battle. Two teams that both joined La Liga recently, Girona in 17-18 and Valladolid in 18-19, they will look to stay in La Liga for at least one more season. Both at 33 matches played of the 38. 34 points to Girona who are in 16 place, while Valladolid are in 18 with 32, only separated by Levante. Last meeting came back in August and was a 0-0 draw. That was the first time these two teams had met at the top flight, and they’ll do it again today. The last 12 meetings between the sides have gone 5 wins for Real Valladolid, 4 wins for Girona, and 3 draws. Pretty even Stevens, but they have yet to ever play each other in a La Liga relegation battle, till now. Season winding down, you need the goals to finish strong. With only 5 matches left to go on your season, you don’t get a better chance than your fellow relegation side. The pride, the passion, the fans. The all want to be here next year, and you know who wants to be there even more? The players.

Girona has the Crist up top, and they’ve really been great all season. Cristhian Stuani and Cristian Portu have been dynamic duo for Girona. Pere Pons in midfield pulling the strings, Girona was running in the top 5 at the beginning of the season. The Early draw with Barcelona in September, big Victories against Valencia and then knocking Atlético Madrid out of the Copa Del Rey, was astonishing. Then they lost every match in the middle of January and into February and got lost. Now Girona are saving their season, and they can start by getting a huge victory today.

Real Valladolid best run of matches came in September and October, about a month after Ronaldo became 51% owner of the club. Yes, that big beautiful man who got the standing ovation from the Old Trafford faithful. Yes him. The Brazilian who had the most iconic hair style ever. Look it up cabron. He ignited that spark maybe? No. The players got to playing because they were happy. Happiness fades, and so has their season. It’s been a rough 2019 for Valladolid. Only 2 wins, one March 17th against Eibar and January 27th against Celta Vigo. Coming off a pair of 2-2 draws, and having to face Atlético Madrid next and Athletic Club after, I could see Real Valladolid playing it all out here. Enes Ünal and Sergi Guardiola have to find the net. 7 league goals between your two up top players, can’t be good stats. Granted, Valladolid do not have the best midfielder options, in the sense of creativity. Oscar Plano will have to be at his best today. If Valladolid do manage to stay stop next season, it will be interesting what the Brazilian decides to do with the club. Will he chose to build his club around youth and become a dynamite prospect selling club, or will he venture around for another season, trying to find a mold? Valladolid is NOT the richest club in Spain, by far. However, you can achieve some great things when you do invest in youth and it’s done the right way. Will be fun to see how this season and summer plays out for Real Valladolid. I’ll be following. By the way, Fernando Calero is a GOOOOOOOD defender. I expect him to be bought in the summer.

Tigres and Monterrey could be one of the best CONCACAF Finals, ever. We also, get two legs of this. WHAT?! First Leg is tonight, and you know what? Damn this is going to be a great one. Two neighboring cities facing off in a Champions League Final. Nothing better than that. Only time could’ve been better, was Madrid Derby a couple times in the UEFA Champions League. EL Clasico Regio, is played between Tigres and Monterrey. WHAT!!

Tigres could prove to everyone what they know, they are the best team in Mexico. It’s hard to argue over the last few years, there has been few teams more consistent than Tigres. They’ve had constant success with Tuca Ferretti at the helm as manager. Even when he took over the Mexico National Team, Tuca stayed with Tigres. After being Runners-up twice in a row in 15-16, and 16-17, Tigres can almost taste this one. The first match at home, Tigres will look to just keep it as close as possible. Be very defensively sound. When you have Carlos Salcedo at the helm of your defense, you feel good. Vargas and Gignac are always good for the goals, as well as Damm getting in with his pace. Lucas Manuel will be the difference maker for Tigres. I’m calling it. Every now and then, I forget how beautiful that bald man Luis Rodriguez is, and I have to remind myself.

Los Rayados have bounced back, from a decade or so. Feels nice to see that M flying high again.  I’m talking about Cesar Montes. One of the best up and coming center backs in my opinion. He will have his work load on full. The young man has all the qualities to be great, and he will be in Europe soon, if not next season. With one of the best squads in Mexico in front of him, he has no worries week to week. This Rayados squad is one of the more expensive teams in Mexico. Pizarro, Pabon, Gallardo are just to name a few. Diego Alonso has been fantastic all season being a player manager, and rotating his players. Funes Mori has had a really good season as well, getting 11 goals in 14 matches for league.

Tried getting this all in on a Tuesday morning, my babies awake. Time to get this day started. All signs are pointing to an Amazing Tuesday. Lets see how it goes. Thanks for reading. You matter. Roll with it baby!
